Stand UP! Foundation is a rights-activism-empowerment NPO focused on motivating, educating and empowering people on social justice rights and roles. On the ground and online, we use strategic, creative and bold approaches in tackling causes and cases - thus uniting local and global struggles - across imagined and imposed borders.
Stand UP! expands social justice activism through Education, Media, Law, Technology and The Arts. Its divisions include Justice For Children, Bambanani Social Justice, Face2Face Media and Amandla Academy. Our legal division Bambanani has previously represented shackdweller's movement Abahlali base Mjondolo in Umlazi, Durban. Our media division Face2Face Media produces a social justice newspaper called Amandla News - which is centered on real, alternative, independent news and actions. Amandla Academy activates empowerment workshops in areas like child rights, poverty vs sustainable living, and the power of common law. Amongst the various causes Stand UP! works with and fights for are the rights of humans, animals and our earth. Stand UP! is actively committed to child rights campaigns like its own Daddy Loves You campaign, #16DaysMustFall ,and national and global campaigns such as Justice for Marikana, an anti-GMO world, and an end to corporate, military, and political corruption and terror.
We have many colleagues, allies, and friends who support our local and global work, on the ground and online, for whom we are eternally grateful! Our exceptional patrons include world-renowned artist and SA's first black political cartoonist Dr Nanda Sooben; and internationally acclaimed specialist psychologist and struggle stalwart Dr Saths Cooper. We are also grateful for those who are opposed to our fearless work for it is their opposition that also proves we are walking on the right path. We welcome volunteers and interns who want to stand up, help change our world, and enjoy living the experience. When injustice is law, resistance is duty. Amandla!
